I had a vision to be in Himalayas, meditating while im turning 30. Eventually it fulfilled as i attended Vipassana meditation course at leh from May 30, 2018 to June 10, 2018. Turned 30 and completed the series 30 Things i experienced before i turned 30 by attaining equanimity.
Vipassana (विपश्यना), which means to see things as they really are, is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation. It was rediscovered by Gautama Buddha more than 2500 years ago. Its a way of self-transformation through self-observation. It focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body, which can be experienced directly by disciplined attention to the physical sensations that form the life of the body, and that continuously interconnect and condition the life of the mind.
The course requires hard, serious work. Participants follow a prescribed Code of Discipline. : https://www.dhamma.org/en/about/code
The foundation of the practice is sīla (शील) — moral conduct. Sīla provides a basis for the development of samādhi (समाधि) — concentration of mind; and purification of the mind is achieved through paññā (प्रज्ञा) — the wisdom of insight.
The entire practice is actually a mental training. Just as we use physical exercises to improve our bodily health, Vipassana can be used to develop a healthy mind.
In my personal experience it was indeed a journey of within, going beyond mind and matter and devoting completely under three gems: Buddha (बुद्धा) — the enlightened one; Dharma (धर्म) — the laws of nature; Sangha (संघ) — following the path of enlightenment; from nothing to everything.
